The EIC designate will begin review of new manuscripts beginning in the first quarter of 2026. The EIC designate does not need to choose Co-Editors ahead of time; they will recruit a team of Co-Editors after selection, in consultation with the VP of Publications.

- Prior publication(s) in JMR
- Editorial experience (as EIC, Co-Editor, or AE)
- Significant recent research productivity
- Managerial experience

Nominations, including self-nominations, should be submitted, by May 15, 2025, to ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Publications VP Roland Rust at rrust@umd.edu with a copy to Marilyn Stone at mstone@ama.org. At this stage, only the name of the nominee is required. Also, there is no need to provide the names of any potential editorial team members during this initial phase of the nomination process. All nominees will be contacted to ascertain interest. A Selection Committee of prominent scholars will then choose a short list of 2-4 candidates, who will then submit a 5-page position paper, followed by an interview with the Selection Committee.
Under current ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø policy, the Selection Committee consists of ÂÜÀòÉç¹Ù꿉۪s Vice President for Publications (Chair), a past editor of JMR, a representative of ÂÜÀòÉç¹Ù꿉۪s Academic Council, three at-large members, and a member of ÂÜÀòÉç¹Ù꿉۪s professional publications staff.
