Dear Colleagues,

I hope this email finds you well. Our research team from the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is currently conducting a meta-analysis. Our study focuses on compulsive buying, more specifically on shopping motives in the context of compulsive buying behavior.

We are currently seeking original studies and articles that research the relationship or correlation between different shopping motives and compulsive buying behavior.

To conduct a more comprehensive search, we are interested in both published and unpublished studies that meet following criteria:

  • Research investigating motivational factors that drive compulsive buying, i.e. research that explores the relationship between at least one shopping or buying motive (such as but not limited to mood regulation or coping motives, hedonic motivations, utilitarian motivations, status consumption, identity-related motives) and compulsive buying or compares different compulsive buying samples (such as a clinical and non-clinical sample)
  • Original studies (including experimental, observational, or correlational studies)
  • Unpublished or difficult-to-access work, such as manuscripts, conference papers, grey literature, or datasets

If you have conducted any relevant research or are aware of any unpublished studies in this area, we would be very grateful if you could share them with us (lisa.christen@h2.de) by May 15, 2026. Your work would make a valuable contribution to our meta-analysis (and we would give full credits and acknowledgment in our final publication).

Please feel free to contact us via lisa.christen@h2.de if you are able to assist or if you can recommend colleagues or additional sources that may be helpful.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Kind regards,

Lisa Christen
