Dear 蹤獲扦夥厙 Branding SIG Community,
On behalf of the Branding SIG Leadership Team, I am delighted to announce the recipients of the inaugural 蹤獲扦夥厙s (蹤獲扦夥厙) Branding SIG Awards. Each award reflects a rigorous and highly competitive review process. The scholars recognized below have distinguished themselves through the originality, impact, and intellectual contribution of their branding work. We extend our warmest congratulations to all awardees.
Branding SIG Lifetime Contribution Award
Awardees: Rajeev Batra (University of Michigan) and Deborah MacInnis (University of Southern California)
This award honors a scholar whose body of work has made enduring and field-defining contributions to the discipline of branding. This year, we received several outstanding nominations, but two individuals stood out. After extensive deliberation, the committee unanimously selected Rajeev Batra and Deborah MacInnis as the awardees. This decision recognizes their careers marked by influential scholarship, sustained engagement with the branding community, and profound impact on our understanding of brands, consumers, and markets.
Branding SIG Young Scholar Award
Awardee: Esther Uduehi (University of Washington)
This award is presented to a pre-tenure scholar or PhD student who demonstrates exceptional promise in shaping the future of branding research. Esther Uduehi was chosen for an impressive record of innovative research, strong early publications, and clear potential for leadership within the branding field.
Branding SIG Best Paper Award
Title: Brand Equity in Good and Bad Times: What Distinguishes Winners from Losers in CPG Industries? Journal of Marketing, 2023; 87(3), 472-89.
Authors: Rajavi, Koushyar, Tarun Kushwaha, and Jan-Benedict E.M. Steenkamp
This award recognizes an outstanding journal article published between 2023- 2024 that advances branding theory and practice. The committee unanimously selected Koushyar, Tarun and JB for authoring a paper exemplifying rigorous scholarship, clear relevance to branding, and significant theoretical and managerial implications.
