CALL FOR PAPERS

Dear colleague, The University of Zaragoza (Spain) and the GENERES research group are proud to host the 5th International Workshop on Gamification and Motivational Technologies (GAMOTEC), November 24-26, 2025. This workshop is aimed at academic researchers and practitioners seeking to advance knowledge in the field of gamification.

GAMOTEC 2025 will be held online and participation is free of charge. Contributions can be presented in English and Spanish, with specific sessions for each language.

Researchers interested in participating in the workshop are invited to submit an extended abstract (below 2,000 words) of their works in the electronic submission form using the template available on the website .

GAMOTEC 2025 welcomes submissions related to the gamification phenomenon and motivational technologies. Topics of interest for this workshop include, but are not limited to:

• Gamification design (design methods, game mechanics, game dynamics, motivational affordances…)
• Gameful experience (motivation, flow, engagement, enjoyment…)
• Gamification in specific contexts: marketing (advergaming, gamified loyalty programmes, social media), education (game-based learning, serious games, simulation games), work (gamified recruitment, gamification in leadership, gameful work), health (exergames, fitness apps), tourism, sustainability
• Gamification and technology (VR, AR, metaverse, wearables, artificial intelligence, privacy, security…)
• Gamification and ethics (side-effects and long-term effects of gamification, the societal impacts and ethical issues of gamification…)

Important dates:

• Best Thesis Award submission deadline: 15 October 2025
• Extended abstracts submission deadline: 31 October 2025
• Notification of acceptance: 7 November 2025
• Celebration dates: 24-26 November 2025
