Issue Editors: Markus Giesler, Nailya Ordabayeva, and Monika Lisjak
Digital platforms—socio-technical infrastructures that enable interactions between consumers, firms, and institutions—are central to how value is created, negotiated, and consumed in everyday life. From service-based applications such as Uber and Airbnb to content-sharing ecosystems like TikTok and YouTube, platforms now structure how consumers make choices, access information, express identity, and develop trust in the marketplace. This special issue seeks to advance consumer research by interrogating how platforms shape (and are shaped by) contemporary consumer behavior and market dynamics. We invite contributions that examine how platforms are adopted, experienced, negotiated, and managed across micro, meso, and macro levels.
