🎉 Announcement: 2025 ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø IOSIG Lifetime Achievement Award
The ÂÜÀòÉç¹Ù꿉۪s Interorganizational Special Interest Group (IOSIG) is thrilled to announce Professor David A. Griffith as the recipient of the 2025 IOSIG Lifetime Achievement Award. Professor Griffith holds the Hallie Vanderhider Chair in Business and is Professor of Marketing at Texas A&M University.
The selection, made by a distinguished committee comprising former lifetime award winners Raj Grewal (Chair), Jan Heide, and Nirmalya Kumar, honors the depth and breadth of Professor Griffith’s contributions to interorganizational scholarship over the past decades.
David Griffith’s pioneering work has fundamentally shaped how we understand interorganizational governance, relationship dynamics, and international coordination. His research has continually challenged established assumptions, whether by rethinking reciprocity norms, redefining opportunism, or modeling multi-dyadic complexity in channels. Griffith’s scholarship stands out not only for its theoretical creativity and methodological rigor, but also for its cross-disciplinary impact, with over 19,000 Google Scholar citations and consistent recognition in premier ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø journal productivity rankings.
His 2011 Journal of Marketing Research article on reciprocity and his 2013 Journal of Marketing paper on opportunism (recipient of the 2021 Louis W. Stern Award) are widely taught in doctoral seminars and have become essential reading for IO scholars. His work extends beyond the dyad to multi-partner governance structures and includes substantial contributions to international interorganizational research published in the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of International Business Studies, Strategic Management Journal, and Journal of Operations Management.
Equally impressive is Professor Griffith’s sustained service to the field. He has championed the IOSIG’s mission through committee leadership, conference engagement, and mentorship, including his roles as Associate Editor at JM and Area Editor at JIBS. His impact is especially felt in his mentorship of emerging IO scholars, many of whom cite his guidance as formative to their careers.
The IOSIG extends its gratitude to the selection committee and to all the outstanding scholars nominated this year. We invite the academic community to join us in honoring Professor Griffith at the Summer ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Conference Awards Reception on Saturday, August 23, 2025. We look forward to celebrating his extraordinary contributions to interorganizational scholarship and practice.
Please join us in applauding Professor Griffith’s legacy and in being inspired by the high standards he continues to set for our field.
