CALL FOR PROPOSALS TO GUEST-EDIT A SPECIAL ISSUE OF PSYCHOLOGY & MARKETING
For the 30-day period beginning January 1st each calendar year, scholars who are willing and qualified to guest-edit a special issue of P&M on a relevant and timely topic within their areas of expertise are encouraged to submit a proposal for doing so. Proposals should be directed to the attention of Charles Hofacker, Special Issue Editor by sending an email to chofack@business.fsu.edu. Prospective co-editors should also include the Editor-in-Chief, Giampaolo Viglia (giampaolo.viglia@port.ac.uk) in copy.
Additionally, for timely topics that cannot be postponed, we consider proposals throughout the year. In these very exceptional circumstances, prospective guest editors should send their proposals directly to the Editor-in-Chief (giampaolo.viglia@port.ac.uk).
At a minimum, a proposal for a special issue should include:
1) the title of the proposed special issue,
2) a statement as to why and how the proposed special issue will make a clear contribution to the extant scholarly literature,
3) a listing of sample topics that articles in the proposed special issue might cover, and,
4) a brief biography of the proposed guest editor(s) that focuses on qualifications, credentials, and resources to guest-edit a special issue on the proposed topic. The prospective guest editor(s) should clarify in the email that the proposal is original, and that the same or similar proposal is not, and will not be, under consideration elsewhere for publication, until such time that a decision as to its acceptability has been rendered by P&M.
Criteria for the P&M evaluation and decision will include, but not be limited to,
1) the relevance and potential impact of the proposal,
2) the experience (i.e., previous publication records/impact) and diversity (i.e., scholars from different institutions/gender/geographical areas) of the prospective guest editorial team, and,
3) the estimated potential of the proposed special issue to yield new theoretical insights and/or actionable, marketing-related implications.
Prospective guest editors will be notified of P&M’s decision, with or without detailed feedback at the sole discretion of P&M, no later than 30 days after their submission.
If the proposal is accepted, guest editors are expected to perform their editing tasks in a timely, rigorous and fair manner.
