Dear Colleagues,
Im writing to inform you about a workshop for the OpenMx extended structural equation modeling R package, being held in Richmond, Virginia, USA this November 14-16, 2024. I would be grateful if you could circulate this announcement to any colleagues or students you feel might be interested in attending.
Were calling it a Master Class. The general audience is people who already know a bit about SEM, but want to learn about the OpenMx way of specifying and fitting models. OpenMx has a wide array of highly flexible and highly modular features (e.g., mixtures, multiple groups, time series, regularization, ordered categorical variables, multilevel, item response theory, hidden Markov models, etc.), but has a difficult learning curve. A goal of this workshop is ease that learning curve and thereby allow attendees to leave with the ability to fit a wider variety of models than they thought possible.
Most of the OpenMx development team will be the instructors (Steve Boker, Mike Neale, Tim Brick, Rob Kirkpatrick, Hermine Maes, Luis Castro de Araujo, and myself). Here is the workshop website for many details and registration (250 USD for academics, with a free Zoom option):
Let me know if you have any questions or if I can clarify anything!
Best,
Mike Hunter
