2024 Gary L. Lilien ISMS Practice Prize Award

Established in 2003, the Gary L. Lilien ISMS Practice Prize is awarded for an outstanding implementation of marketing science.

Gary Lilien (PhD 1973, Columbia), a long-time faculty member at Penn State University and prior to that MIT, is a scholar/educator who focused his career on bridging the gap between research and practice in OR/MS and marketing science.

Four finalists presented their work at the 2024 ISMS Marketing Science Conference in Sydney, Australia, where the winner was announced.

This year’s judging committee was Lan Luo (USC-Marshall) (chair), Nicholas Chu (UNSW; sinarbis), Steve Cohen (in4mation insights), Tamara Howe (SunRice Group), Wendy Mak (MUFG), Koen Pauwels (Northeastern-D’Amore-McKim), and Oliver Toubia (Columbia-GSB).

Winner:

Saiquan Hu (Hunan University), Juanjuan Zhang (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and Yuting Zhu (National University of Singapore) for “Sales Automation”.

Greig Cowan (NatWest Group), Salvatore Mercuri (The University of Edinburgh), and Raad Khraishi (NatWest Group) for “Modelling Customer Lifetime Value in the Retail Banking Industry”.

Yixin Tang (DoorDash), Yicong Lin (DoorDash), and Navdeep Sahni (Stanford University) for “Business Policy Experiments Using Fractional Factorial Designs: Consumer Retention on DoorDash”.
