Call for Nominations – Editor in Chief | Journal of Marketing
6/27/2024
Roland Rust & Marilyn Stone
The ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø is seeking nominations and applications for the Editor in Chief designate of Journal of Marketing (JM). JM is the oldest and highest-cited ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø journal, and is dedicated to advancing marketing practice, research, and theory.
The Editor in Chief (EIC) will serve a three-year term resulting in the publication of the 2026–2028 calendar-year volumes of the journal. The EIC designate will begin review of new manuscripts beginning sometime in early-2025. The EIC designate does not need to choose Co-Editors ahead of time, and will recruit a team of Co-Editors after selection, in consultation with the VP of Publications.
Qualifications and major criteria for evaluating candidates are the following:
- Internationally recognized marketing scholar
- Prior publication(s) in JM
- Editorial experience (as EIC, Co-Editor, or AE)
- Significant recent research productivity
- Managerial experience
- Breadth of topics and methods
- Record of research impact
- History of ethical behavior
Further information about JM may be obtained at /jm.
Nominations, including self-nominations, should be submitted, by July 31, 2024, to ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Publications VP Roland Rust at rrust@umd.edu with a copy to Marilyn Stone at mstone@ama.org. There is no need to provide the names of any potential editorial team members during this initial phase of the nomination process. All nominees will be contacted to ascertain interest. A Selection Committee of prominent scholars will then choose a short list of 3-4 candidates, who will then submit a 10-page position paper, followed by an interview with the Selection Committee.
Under current ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø policy, the Selection Committee consists of ÂÜÀòÉç¹Ù꿉۪s Vice President for Publications (Chair), a past editor of JM, a representative of ÂÜÀòÉç¹Ù꿉۪s Academic Council, three at-large members, and a member of ÂÜÀòÉç¹Ù꿉۪s professional publications staff. This year’s committee consists of Roland Rust (chair), Harald van Heerde (former editor), Lerzan Aksoy (ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Academic Council), Linda Price (at-large member), Mike Brady (at-large member), Marnik Dekimpe (at-large member), and Marilyn Stone (ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø professional publications staff).
