You may be interested in our next conference, scheduled for July, 7-10, 2025. We are proud to organize it in the Esplanade hotel, a famous, multiple award-winning historic hotel in Zagreb. If you are not familiar with our conference, the aim of the conference is to bring together scholars from various disciplines and countries interested in retailing and consumer services. In the past, the conference has attracted scholars from disciplines such as marketing, psychology, urban planning, transportation, management, geography etc. from more than 30 countries. It aims at stimulating ideas, discussion, networking and trying out papers before these are submitted to international journals. The conference therefore gives delegates the opportunity to present both completed studies and work in progress. We also invite scholars to organize a special session that could be the first step to a special issue of the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, if papers meet the journals’ requirements.

SUGGESTED TOPICS

Papers on any topic relevant to progress in retailing and consumer services (tourism, banking, aspects of transportation, etc.) are welcome. Topics of special interest include:

ÌýBy submitting an abstract you indicate that at least one of the authors will attend the conference if the abstract is accepted. Realize capacity is limited; hence non-attendance implies one of your peers did not get the opportunity to attend. If you cannot guarantee this, please let us know as it allows us to manage this uncertainty in the best possible way. We try to avoid that we need to reject papers due to limited capacity rather than on the basis of a lack of contribution and that we could have accepted papers after all because of no-shows.

FORMAT: All 1-page abstracts will be included in a Book of Abstracts, made available in digital format. In addition, participants are stimulated to submit a full paper or 6-8 pages extended abstract (=core of a full paper but less reflection and discussion of implications) that will be included in the conference proceedings, made available to delegates in digital format. We do not ask for any copyrights transfer; authors can still submit their paper to journals for publication. The conference will start with registration on the afternoon of July 7, followed by a welcome reception. Sessions will start on July 8 and continue until noon July 10.

SPECIAL SESSIONS: You are invited to organize a special session. Proposals should include: (a) a short description of the proposed session; (b) a list of speakers, who committed to participate; (c) one-page abstracts of all papers. Sessions are typically organized in blocks of 6-8 presentations. Organizers can act as guest editor for a special issue in the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, subject to journal’s policy, positive reviews and quality standards.

NOTIFICATION: We plan to notify delegates by November 15, 2024 at the latest about the outcome of the review process. Delegates are expected to finalize their registration and transfer their conference fees before February 1, 2025 to guarantee accommodation/reduced room prices. Note that July is high season and early registration helps us better managing the conference.

CONFERENCE PACKAGE: 1498 Euros before February 1, 2025; 1898 Euros after this date. The package includes participation, documentation, proceedings, book of abstracts, three nights of deluxe accommodation (arrival: July 7th – departure: July 30th, 2025), breakfast buffet, tea and coffee breaks, 2 lunches, reception, conference dinner, all taxes, including tourism tax, and service charges. Spouses and family can stay for an extra charge. Pre and post-conference rooms are available at discounted rates, subject to availability. It is advisable to inform us if you need any pre-or post-conference nights when submitting the abstract to avoid disappointment.

AWARD: Submitted full papers compete for the Elsevier Most Innovative Paper Award.

THE AREA: The venue is a 5-star historic hotel where many presidents, politicians, movie stars and musicians stayed in the past.
