Advancing Data Transparency at JM: Auditing and Routine Checks

Replication packets are now being submitted with every revision and securely stored, with the excellent assistance of our JM support staff. We are now excited to move into the next phase of this initiative: shared governance in auditing and routine checks of replication packets. A few Associate Editors have volunteered to serve as anonymous “data editors.” These data editors will perform routine checks of the replication packets submitted by authors, ensuring that the integrity of our data remains high. They will conduct their checks on conditionally accepted papers (i.e., before final acceptance), following a checklist of basic items. They will be asked to submit a very short report to the processing editor. To maintain confidentiality, data editors will remain anonymous and sign a nondisclosure agreement before they access the replication packet.

We welcome additional volunteers from the Associate Editor team to join this new data editor role. Your participation will be crucial in helping us achieve the highest standards of transparency at JM. We will track the service traffic to data editors and will reduce the Associate Editor load for those taking on this additional role.

As more data editors volunteer for this role, we anticipate achieving full compliance with routine checks. This will allow the field to monitor its own replication packets, much like our current governance in the review process.
