GMSIG Significant Contributions to Global Marketing Award
The Global Marketing SIG is pleased to announce that Jagdish N. Sheth, Charles H. Kellstadt Chaired Professor of Business at Emory University, is the recipient of the 2024 Significant Contributions to Global Marketing Award.
The Significant Contributions Award honors a scholar who has contributed significantly to the field of global marketing. This year’s selection was made by a distinguished panel comprising past winners of the award, current and former editors/co-editors of the Journal of International Marketing, and other eminent academics appointed by the board of directors of the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Global Marketing SIG. The committee members were Constantine S. Katsikeas (Leeds University Business School and Committee Chair), Robin Coulter (University of Connecticut), and Carlos Sousa (Molde University College).
Professor Jagdish Sheth is a highly prolific author in the field of marketing and has been instrumental in the development of several schools of thought. He has been a leading figure in the domain of Global Marketing for over four decades. Professor Sheth is globally recognized as one of the foremost thinkers on emerging markets, particularly India and China, as evidenced by his work (Sheth, 2011a). In recognition of his contributions, Professor Sheth was awarded the Padma Bhushan, one of the highest civilian honors granted by the Government of India, in 2020. He was also inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of International Business in March 2021.
As a champion of free trade and global markets, Professor Sheth has continued to (co)author impactful articles (e.g., Pels & Sheth, 2017; Sheth & Sinha, 2015; Sheth, 2020) and books (e.g., Sheth, 2011b; Sheth & Sisodia, 2006; Sheth, Sinha, & Shah, 2015) on global marketing. His recent book on the subject, The Global Rule of Three (Sheth, Uslay, & Sisodia, 2020), was published last December and has been nominated for the Academy of Management’s George R. Terry award. Professor Sheth has also taught International/Global Marketing to undergraduate, MBA, and Executive MBA students.
Beyond his academic contributions, Professor Sheth’s reach extends to the broader community. He is the founder of the India, China, America (ICA) Institute, which promotes prosperity for this triad, and he is frequently quoted by the press on global marketing issues.
