We would like to share with the ELMAR Community information about a 5-day Summer School organized by the Department of Business Administration and Law of the University of Calabria, Italy.
The Summer School on Text Mining (July 15-19 2024) trains participants to collect and analyze texts from different sources. The Program outline is the following:
- Introduction to text mining: At the intersection between big data and linguistics
- Natural Language Processing: Syntax, semantics and data pre-processing
- Dictionary approaches: Use of existing dictionaries and development of customized ones
- Supervised learning: Classifications of documents into predefined categories
- Unsupervised approaches: Text clustering and topic extraction
- Image analysis: Scraping and analysis with Google API
- Application exercises with Knime Analytics
The lecturers are Francisco Villarroel Ordenes (Luiss) and Ernesto Cardamone (University of Calabria).
