Münster hosts Metaverse Conference Event in the Metaverse
Metaverse scholars (and educators), assemble! On November 29, the Marketing Center Münster’s eXperimental Reality Lab will host a special event on Value Creation with the Metaverse IN the metaverse. The format will be three consecutive 30 minute sessions that cover different facets of the metaverse phenomenon:
- Session One (1530-1600 CET): Nilusha Aliman from Münster’s XRLab@MCM will present the results of an empirical real-world study on the effectiveness of the metaverse as a platform for conducting customer-related teamwork. Her co-presenter will be André Henke from the Ministery of Internal Affairs of the German state of Lower Saxony, who partnered with the XRLab@MCM for this study.
- Session Two (1600-1630 CET): A panel discussion on the impact of immersive technologies on research and education. Participants will be a diverse group of metaverse and VR experts, namely Min Ding from Penn State, Sebastian Hohenberg from Münster Univ. and Paolo Granata from Univ of Toronto, along with Nilusha Aliman. Thorsten Hennig-Thurau will moderate the session.
- Session Three (1630-1700 CET): In this (very) special session, Nilusha and Thorsten will invite the attendees for a tour of the Marketing Center’s virtual facilities and particularly the MCM’s own island. Experience yourself what marketing education can offer in virtual immersive environments on top of the usual classroom format…
The three consecutive sessions will be part of the IMMERSIVE-X conference, a larger event organized by German entrepreneur Thomas Zorbach and his team at VM People. The two-day conference addresses a large set of topics, ranging from the metaverse influence on healthcare, brand management, entertainment, arts, and work-related issues.
If you are interested in attending either the sessions described above or the whole conference, please send us an email to xrlab-mcm@wiwi.uni-muenster.de. The conference is invitation-only, but we have been able to reserve a few (virtual 😉) spots for marketing colleagues from around the globe. For those who have a ticket, attendance of the conference and the sessions is free of charge.
IMPORTANT NOTE: A requirement for participation is access to a VR headset such as a Meta Quest 2/3/Pro and the latest versions of the apps REMIO (in which Session One will take place) and VRChat (in which Sessions Two and Three will happen). Both apps can be installed free of charge from Meta’s app store, among others. Participants need to design their own avatars for the two apps in advance of the event and should have a decent knowledge on how navigating the metaverse works.
