2023 ISMS Doctoral Early-Stage Research Grants
The INFORMS Society for Marketing Science (ISMS) is pleased to announce its 2023 call for Doctoral Early-Stage Research Grants. This is a recent initiative to provide support to PhD students conducting marketing science research. The grants are need-based. Preference will be given to candidates whose universities or advisors are not able to help them collect data, buy data or equipment, or pay for RA support.
Grant Committee
The early-stage research grant proposals will be reviewed and ranked by a committee of experts consisting of Professors Juanjuan Zhang (chair, MIT), Marnik Dekimpe (Tilburg and KU Leuven), Tony Ke (Chinese University in Hong Kong), and Jacquelyn Thomas (Southern Methodist University). ). It is important to note that a committee member cannot be the dissertation advisor of a student in the competition and committee members will also recuse themselves from any decisions involving students from their university.
Application Eligibility Criteria
Any student member of ISMS is eligible to participate in this competition, provided that:
- The candidate demonstrates financial need for the grant, which may include expenses such as data collection, software, cloud-computing resources, experiments, conference attendance, and research assistants, among others. The proposal should include a budget listing the financial needs for the project and the other sources and amounts of funding.
- The candidate or his/her advisor/chair is a current member of ISMS.
- The candidate is registered at an accredited university to receive the degree of PhD in business or marketing.
Please note that each candidate can only submit their research proposal to one of the two ISMS awards (ISMS Doctoral Dissertation Award or ISMS Doctoral Early-Stage Research Grants) in any given year.
ISMS encourages applications from PhD students of all backgrounds, universities, and research traditions and actively encourages applications from PhD students from underrepresented minority groups in marketing academia. ISMS is committed to ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusion within our field.
