JPIM Reviewer Development Program Call for Participants

Program overview and benefits for reviewers

Reviewing for well-known peer-reviewed journals provides several benefits including developing as a scholar (e.g., improving critical thinking, increasing domain knowledge, improving research execution capabilities, improving research explication capabilities, improving knowledge about responding to reviewers of your own research, improving knowledge about the journal’s editorial stance etc.), career benefits, personal fulfillment among others (Barczak and Griffin 2020). This program is intended to help participants learn about the full peer-review process. Program participants gain from:

  • receiving a course completion certificate, and
  • being added to the JPIM reviewer pool with a potential pathway to be into the Editorial Review Board.

Testimonials from participants

Ph.D. (Michigan State University, U.S.A.): I like the program because of a) because I get a sneak peak into the peer-review process head to toe which I was not trained for in my Ph.D. program; b) the opportunity to receive lots of feedback, tips and tricks on reviewing; and c) I get to meet top scholars in innovation management and get to know them.

Ph.D. (Ehrenberg-Bass Institute, Australia): This program gave me a ‘look behind the curtain’. It was good to get multiple perspectives from mentors, to improve my reviewing skills. I loved the structure of the one-hour sessions so much!

Ph.D. (Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany): If there is a community tied to a top-tier Journal, sometimes it’s hard to get into the community. JPIM and especially this program has served as a welcoming gateway for me to become a part of a network of Innovation scholars. Also, this is a program through which young aspiring social scientists can be engaged with expert mentors and learn a lot about developing as a scholar.
