I am thrilled to introduce a new university ranking system () that assesses universities’ and authors’ research productivity based on the number (score) of articles published in top-tier marketing journals since 2018. MKTBig15 also showcases a detailed view of the faculty research productivity within each university. Furthermore, unlike current rankings, this ranking encompasses a more comprehensive set of marketing journals (e.g., JAMS, JCP, IJRM … ), providing a more complete picture of the research output. The advantages of this ranking system are:

  • Authors ranking: Includes an author ranking based on the number of published articles, allowing the identification of the most productive and influential authors in a marketing field.
  • Distribution of journals: Presents the distribution of journals that a particular university faculty has published in, giving insight into the theme of their targeted journals.
  • Faculty ranking: This shows the faculty ranking (productivity) within each university, for example, the top 5 productive researchers at the University of Cincinnati / Marketing Department.

Since its launch, the extensive positive feedback I’ve received from marketing scholars and journal editors regarding this initiative has further strengthened my dedication to its continued development. As acknowledged by many scholars, this is a great tool and one that the field needed … it allows a more realistic assessment of what production at each school is. With the ongoing support of the marketing community, I am hopeful of further enhancing this initiative.
