Our research team is currently conducting a meta-analysis on the effects of warmth and competence on consumer outcomes. To this end, we are requesting that any researchers who may have in-process unpublished work, manuscripts under review, or file drawer experiments or surveys related to this topic would consider sharing their findings with us by January 14, 2023.
Here are the criteria of the studies we are currently searching for:
- The object being perceived to be warmth and/or competent may be a brand (e.g. Coca Cola), product (e.g. chocolate), firm (e.g. charity), person (e.g. endorser, politician), robot (e.g. robotic domestic helper), place (e.g. country or city). The brand/product/firm may be hypothetical or real. The context needs to be Marketing (e.g. HR/recruitment is out of scope).
- Warmth and/or competence can be both measured (e.g. through a scale), manipulated experimentally against either a control condition or other levels of warmth/competence (high vs low, high vs medium) or analysed via text-analysis (e.g. from Facebook).
- The measure of consumer outcome can involve (a) attitudes (e.g. brand preference, liking, affect, loyalty) or (b) behaviours (e.g. purchase, donation amount etc). The outcome can either be self-reported or observed, it may be based on intention or actual behaviour.
If you think that your studies fulfil these criteria, we kindly request to share the specific statistics needed for the meta-analysis, e.g. sample sizes, cell means and standard deviations, Pearson correlations coefficients, t-values, proportions, and basic elements of the experimental design. However, we are also open to receiving the original data or the draft of the manuscript from authors if they agree. Please email Anne-Maree O’Rourke on a.orourke@business.uq.edu.au
Thanks in advance for your collaboration! We are happy to share our findings with anyone interested upon acceptance of the project.
Regards,
Anne-Maree O’Rourke
