Together with a colleague in Instructional Design and with the support of our university, Thompson Rivers University (Kamloops, BC) we have completed the multi-year process of creating a series of case studies on Indigenous businesses and their marketing approaches and challenges. We saw the need for this since case study work is incredibly useful for students but case study repositories are very limited (and often ask for fees); case studies with Indigenous content are even harder to find, despite its inclusion being a priority for many universities.
We have worked with 6 indigenous-owned businesses in the Interior of BC, and created rich, multi-media supported content that can be used in a variety of marketing, management and business courses. Suggestions for class work and applications are included in each case study.
The case studies are published as an Open Educational Resource so their use is free and the case study content can be modified as each instructor sees fit (though the original contributions from the interviewees are protected and cannot be altered).Â
