SCP Communications Chair Wanted!
The SCP Executive Board seeks an SCP member to serve as the SCP Communications Chair. The communications chair will receive a stipend and will work closely with the President and Executive Board of SCP. The chair may also choose two additional volunteer communications committee members.
The chair’s initial responsibilities include developing a strategic plan to increase awareness of, and engagement in, SCP’s activities and identifying appropriate outlets for publicizing papers published in JCP and CPR, to different audiences (SCP members, relevant wider academic audiences, media outlets, etc.). Ongoing responsibilities will include social media management and content creation that highlights society activities and events, journal publications (current, forthcoming, and past), etc.
The right candidate will have knowledge of social media platforms, a commitment to and enthusiasm for SCP, and the time and energy to create and execute a comprehensive, creative plan to further SCP’s mission and activities, and to lead the full SCP Communications committee.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Active, timely, and topical posting to all SCP social media (e.g., Twitter, LinkedIn)
- Interfacing with JCP and CPR authors, and SCP conference chairs, to collect press-worthy summaries and tweets, editing and posting these in a timely way, including in sites such as EurekAlert
- Maintaining a social media page on the SCP website
Applicants should be faculty members (any rank) who are current SCP members, and are committed to attending the SCP annual conference. Chairs and committee members will serve a 3 year term starting with the annual SCP conference in March 2022.
