Issue Editors: Kelly Goldsmith and Angela Y. Lee
Journal of the Association for Consumer Research |ÌýVolume 6, Issue 1
The current humanitarian crisis related to the COVID-19 outbreak around the world presents unprecedented challenges to the global community that all constituents—governments, companies, nonprofits and citizens—are facing and grappling with.
JACR plans to publish a special Flash COVID-19 Research Issue to make available to the scientific community and to public and private sector decision-makers consumer insights based on empirical findings. The goal is to provide a platform for timely research that can be used to inform policies and to stimulate ongoing research related to how societies deal with pandemics. We are seeking behavioral research on responses to COVID-19, as well as papers on related research topics such as (but not limited to):
- Pandemics
- Caring for the sick and vulnerable
- Social connections and social distancing
- Voluntary self-isolation and compulsory quarantine
- Scarcity, hoarding and resource sharing
- Reactive investing
- Anxiety
- Working-from-home
- Rise of DIY
- Trust in government and science
- Adoption of precautionary measures such as handwashing and disinfecting
- Support for medical professionals
- Coping strategies including alternative medical treatments
We encourage the submission of short manuscripts for rapid processing and dissemination (see Details below). The review process will be fast to allow papers to be accessible to managers and policymakers as soon as possible.
Accepted papers will appear as a supplemental section in the January 2021 issue. For this reason, the editors will only invite manuscripts for revisions that could be satisfactorily completed in one round. The submission deadline is July 6, 2020.
Accepted papers will be published online in preprint format upon final acceptance. They will be officially published online Ahead of Print by early December and will be promoted among the ACR membership as well as through ad hoc media placements.
Details
Papers appearing in the issue should not exceed 5,000 words (including abstract and references) and contain no more than 2 small figures or one short table. Authors may submit additional information such as supplemental data analyses and/or detailed descriptions of stimuli separately for online-only presentation as “Supplemental Documents.â€
There will be two reviewers for each paper, and as per JACR policy, submissions will receive double-blind peer review. Authors who would like additional information about the issue or would just appreciate feedback on a potential project are encouraged to contact the editors:
