Call for Papers for a Special Issue of Psychology & Marketing
"The Influence of Color and Other Sensory Elements on Marketing"
We invite authors to contribute research articles, as well as review articles that make original contributions regarding research questions such as:
- How do sensory elements differ in their motivating influence on consumption? Does one sensory modality (e.g., visual) have a greater impact than another?
- How and when do sensory elements work in conjunction to influence consumption? For example, can haptic elements amplify olfactory attributes?
- Are there individual differences in susceptibility to sensory elements in a purchasing situation?
- What theories can inform the use of color and other sensory elements in marketing?
- Are there certain instances or situations in which color and other sensory elements have a greater effect than others?
- How can we more accurately measure sensory experiences in order to develop more robust outcome measures?
- Does sensory marketing impact children (or other consumer groups) differentially?
- Does the use of specific colors in a campaign (such as the use of green in a campaign to promote recycling or other "green" behavior) affect the effectiveness of the campaign?
- What are the potential problems, drawbacks, negatives, or hazards of relying on color (or other sensory elements) in a marketing campaign?
