Xiaoqian (Tracy) Yu
Introduction
Xiaoqian (Tracy) Yu, Assistant Professor in the Marketing Department at the University of Utah, has passed away
Dear Friends,
With heavy hearts we pass on the sad news that Xiaoqian (Tracy) Yu, an assistant professor in the marketing department at the University of Utah, passed away last week at the UCLA Medical Center shortly after giving birth to her baby. Xiaoqian received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southwest Jiaotong University in China, and received her PhD in Marketing from USC in 2017. She became an assistant professor at the University of Utah in the same year. In her short academic career, Xiaoqian studied the impact of marketing promotions on consumer prosocial behavior on crowdfunding platforms. She made important contributions by proposing an economic modeling framework to disentangle opposing forces that capture the impact of monetary incentives on prosocial contributions. It is very unfortunate that Xiaoqian will not be able to see the fruition of this research. However, Xiaoqian will be remembered for her dedication, positive spirit, and kindness. Xiaoqian is survived by her husband Charles, her parents, and her new born son, Andrew.
Memorial services are scheduled for November 30th in Los Angeles.
