When and How Board Members with Marketing Experience Facilitate Firm Growth: This webinar will report on recently published research that shows the how and when having experienced marketers on a company’s board can benefit the firm.

Presenters:

Kim Whitler is Assistant Professor at the Darden School of Business at University of Virginia. Kim’s research is centered on helping boards, CEOs, and CMOs understand how to design, organize, and leverage marketing to accelerate firm growth. Prior to getting her PhD, she worked in U.S. and international GM and CMO roles, having spent nearly a decade at Procter and Gamble. She has authored over 250 articles as a Forbes contributor and has been published in the Journal of Marketing, Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, Journal of Retailing, The Washington Post, Chief Executive Magazine, Directors & Boards, among others and has been ranked a “Top influencer of CMOs” and a “Favorite Professor of Top MBA Students” in Poets and Quants.

Ryan Krause is Associate Professor and Schumacher Junior Faculty Fellow at Texas Christian University. Ryan’s research focuses on issues of corporate governance, specifically on boards of directors. His research has been published in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Management, and Journal of Operations Management; and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Businessweek, Fortune, and on Fox Business Network. He received his PhD from Indiana University.

Device Switching in Online Purchasing: Examining the Strategic Contingencies: In recent years, shopping on mobile devices has become a norm across the globe and companies have followed with a huge rise in mobile advertising. With the proliferation of individuals using multiple devices, advertising decisions have become more complex. New research from the Journal of Marketing provides insights on how individuals make purchase decisions across multiple devices and how companies should respond to maximize conversions.

Presenter:

Evert de Haan is an Assistant Professor in Marketing at the Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany. He obtained his PhD from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. His research addresses topics related to digital marketing and marketing accountability. Current research projects focus on the usage of mobile devices in the online customer journey, the effectiveness of online advertising, the consequence of ad blocking and how to use customer metrics, textual data, and other marketing metrics to improve customer service and firm performance.
