Christopher Newman is this year's ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Marketing and Society SIG Emerging Scholar
The Marketing and Society SIG of the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø is pleased to announce Christopher Newman as this year’s MASSIG Emerging Scholar Award winner.
Christopher earned his PhD in Marketing at the University of Arkansas and is now an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Mississippi. Christopher was chosen for his rigorous scholarship on nutritional labeling which has led to his becoming one of the leading experts in this area. With more than 14 journal publications in esteemed journals such as the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Affairs and the Journal of Consumer Research, he has established himself as an emerging scholar that contributes significantly to improving the health and well-being of the consumer. His nomination for the Food & Drug Administration Risk Communication Advisory Committee is another indication of the impact his scholarship is having on society. He is also on the Editorial Review Boards of the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Journal of Consumer Affairs and Journal of Service Research. He also directs the doctoral program at the University of Mississippi.
Christopher has also garnered numerous research honors and awards, including twice earning the “Junior Researcher of the Year Award” (2015, 2014), and twice earning the “Best Overall Publication Award” (2016, 2014) in the School of Business Administration at the University of Mississippi. He also was recipient in 2011 of the prestigious “Brenda Derby Memorial Award,” presented nationally to the doctoral student who best demonstrates excellence as an emerging marketing and public policy researcher. Researchers like Christopher advance our field and substantively demonstrate how our work can better our society.
