Katia Campo
Introduction
Professor of Marketing at KU Leuven, died on 7 Mar 2018
It is with extreme sadness that we announce that Katia Campo, Professor of Marketing at KU Leuven, died on March 7 at age 54.
Katia Campo was a widely respected scholar who became famous for her work on out-of-stocks, multiple-store shopping and more recently multi-channel shopping behavior. She was Dean of the Antwerp campus of the Faculty of Economics and Business from 2008 untill the moment of integration in 2013, and afterwards became Dean of the Flanders Business School untill 2016. She has numerous publications and won the IJRM 2008 best paper award for her paper “Beyond promotion-based store switching: antecedents and patterns of systematic multiple-store shopping” (co-authored by Els Gijsbrechts and Patricia Nisol). She received multiple honorable mentions for other academic work.
Katia did not only have an impressive academic record, above all she was a hard-working and inspiring colleague and a warm and caring person, always willing to help others in their academic work. Katia will remain a source of inspiration and we will all miss her greatly.
Katia Campo leaves behind her husband, her three sons, her daughter-in-law, her father, mother and brother.
We are collecting all words of condolence to pass to Katia’s beloved ones. If you have a memory or story about Katia that you would like to share, please send it to els.breugelmans@kuleuven.be, and we will pass it to those that find comfort in these words.
