The IMP Group

The Industrial Marketing and Purchasing Group (IMP Group) is an informal international group of scholars concerned with developing concepts and knowledge in the field of business-to-business marketing and purchasing.

Early work focused on the nature and management of relationships between companies in the international market. More recently however, this perspective has been widened to incorporate the study of complex networks within which business communities operate.

The IMP Group is the largest group in the world dealing specifically with marketing issues in a business-to-business context. Primarily based in Europe and North America, this will be the sixth time that the IMP Group has met in Asia.

Conference Program

The conference will commence at 4.00 pm on Sunday, December 2 [with registration and the cocktail reception] and conclude on Wednesday, December 5. Spread over two and one half to three days [commensurate with the number of papers submitted], the conference will be conducted in a relaxed informal atmosphere with no more than TWO parallel tracks. Papers will be of 30 minutes duration [20 minutes for presentation, 10 minutes for discussion].

A comprehensive social program including a welcome cocktail and one informal dinner will provide delegates with ample opportunity to meet new friends and to renew existing friendships. For each of the other nights, delegates may choose to dine from the comprehensive buffet dinners available at the hotel or to dine from any number of the restaurants, bars and night clubs that are located along the coastal road.

Conference Venue

The IMP Asia conference 2018 will be in Sri Lanka.

On this occasion, IMP ASIA will be held at Jetwing Blue hotel, Negombo Beach, Sri Lanka.

Call for papers

Critical Dates

  • Submission of abstracts: March 31, 2018
  • Authors notified: April 15, 2018
  • Submission of papers: June 1, 2018
  • Authors notified: July 31, 2018
  • Registration: BEFORE September 30, 2018
  • Submission of final papers: November 1, 2018

Abstracts: Abstracts should not be more than ONE page and must include:

  • Title of the paper
  • The author name(s)
  • Institutional address
  • e-mail address

Guidelines for papers

  • Papers MUST conform to the following guidelines:
  • Paper: A4
  • Font: Times New Roman 11pt
  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
  • Spacing: Single spaced, with one blank line between paragraphs
  • Title: Bold. No more than 2 lines of text
  • Abstract: Maximum of 250 words
  • Total length: EIGHT (8) pages (including title, abstract, main body, tables and references)
  • Referencing style: Journal of Marketing

  • Title
  • Authors names and institutions [which will be removed prior to review]
  • Abstract
  • Introduction/Background
  • Main body of the paper including tables
  • Reference list
