TLSIG Award
Introduction
Lauren S. Beitelspacher has won the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Teaching & Learning SIG's 2017 Solomon-Marshall-Stuart Award for Innovative Excellence in Marketing Education
The ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Teaching and Learning SIG is pleased to announce Dr. Lauren S. Beitelspacher (Babson College) as the 2017 winner of the Solomon-Marshall-Stuart Award for Innovative Excellence in Marketing Education.
Dr. Beitelspacher’s innovation is a project that integrates corporate social responsibility (CSR) and ethics issues into the retail management course. In this project, students analyze the social, environmental, ethical and economic impact of retailers on the value chain both upstream and downstream stakeholders. The purpose of this project is twofold: to encourage students to critically analyze the impact of merchandise as it moves throughout the supply chain, and to encourage students to be more aware of the impact and influence of their own consumption. This innovation makes tangible and meaningful contributions to the somewhat elusive pedagogy of applied CSR in a retail management context.
To hear details regarding learning tools and empirical evidence of effectiveness of this exciting innovation, please attend the TLSIG special session, August 5, 2017 at the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Summer Educators meeting in San Francisco.
