Gender Equity in B-Schools
Introduction
H. Steve Leslie and Melodie Philhours seek survey participants from US, Finnish and Jamaican business schools
Dear College of Business Faculty:
I need your help! My name is H. Steve Leslie. I am a doctoral candidate in the Educational Leadership program at Arkansas State University (A-State), Jonesboro campus. In addition, I am a full-time instructor in the College of Business at A-State where I teach Business Communication and Management courses.
Under the guidance of my Advisor, Dr. Amany Saleh, I am conducting a survey to collect data for my dissertation, entitled “The Relationship of Gender Equity to Compensation, Career Advancement and Leadership in Colleges of Business in Finland, Jamaica and United States.” The purpose of the study is to determine the relationships between gender equity of faculty members in colleges of business to: compensation, access to leadership roles and career advancement. The study is significant as it will fill a gap in the literature regarding the equitable treatment of faculty members in colleges of business in different countries.
The study has been approved by the A-State Institutional Review Board. Please complete the online survey at within the two-week period, November 17 to December 6. The survey should take approximately 15 – 20 minutes of your time. You may complete the survey in multiple sessions once done from the same computer. This will allow you to start right where you left off the next time you click the survey link from the same computer.
Responses will be confidential, voluntary and anonymous. The survey results will be pooled for the research. If this study is published, only pooled results will be presented. At the conclusion of the survey, you will have the option of requesting a summary of the findings from this study.
Thank you in advance for your participation. Should you have any questions about this research, please contact me at sleslie@astate.edu, or my dissertation committee chair Dr. Amany Saleh at asaleh@astate.edu.
