Subrata Sen Elected as ISMS Fellow
After reviewing nominating letters and CVs, the 9-member Selection Committee of ISMS Fellows elected Subrata Sen to become an ISMS Fellow in 2016. The selection was announced at the June 17 ISMS Awards Dinner at the Shanghai Marketing Science Conference.
Subrata was the second editor of Marketing Science, and served as editor for two three-year terms (beginning 1983-end 1988). This was a critical period in the development of the journal, and Subrata played a major role in making Marketing Science the premier quantitative journal in marketing. During his editorship the journal published many classic papers, including the, Guadagni/Little paper on logit models, the McGuire/Staelin paper on channels of distribution, the Basu/Lal/Srinivasan/Staelin paper on salesforce compensation, the Hauser/Shugan paper on defensive marketing strategies, and Thaler’s paper on mental accounting.
Subrata’s research encompasses a wide variety of topics in Marketing including estimation of conjoint models, identifying the Deal Prone Segment, salesforce compensation, international diffusion of Innovations, anti-drug Advertising.
