CALL FOR PAPERS

It is a contemporary global trend that diverse visual media have been used as marketing tool for promoting a tourism destination by destination marketer as costeffective and instantly responsive promotional vehicle. Those who are exposed to visual media are likely to be motivated to travel to the film destinations. Therefore, the influence of visual media on tourists’ decision making is always there. In this special issue, the visual media includes film, TV drama, commercials, youtube, and video clips which influence tourism destination and tourists. This special issue aims to evaluate the role of visual media in marketing tourism destinations and its effect on potential visitors.

Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing (JTTM, SSCI-listed) is publishing a special issue on ‘Visual Media and Tourism’ to provide an opportunity for authors to publish articles related to visual media and tourism promotion. This issue will provide an update on the research of media and tourism. Research papers on any topic focusing on visual media and tourism are welcome. The following topics are particularly pertinent:

  • Influence of Film, TV Drama, Commercial, Youtube and Video Clip on Tourism Destinations and Tourists
  • Tourism and TV Dramas
  • Tourism and Movies
  • TV Commercials and Tourism Destination
  • Visual Media and Tourist Decision Making
  • Visual Media and Its Effect on Tourist Behavior and/or Attitude
  • Visual Media and Destination Image

Full papers must be received no later than May 31, 2016 by submitting online to JTTM’s website at
