Read, Dew, Sarasvathy, Song, and Wiltbank win the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Entrepreneurial Marketing SIG 2015 Hills Best Paper Award

Stuart Read (Willamette U.), Nicholas Dew (Naval Postgraduate School), Saras Sarasvathy (U. Virginia), Michael Song (U. Missouri-Kansas City), and Robert Wiltbank (Willamette U.) won the 2015 ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Entrepreneurial Marketing SIG Hills Best Paper Award for their article “Marketing Under Uncertainty: The Logic of an Effectual Approach,” published in the Journal of Marketing (2009, 73(3), 1-18). The award was presented at the awards luncheon during the 28th Global Research Symposium on Marketing Entrepreneurship (GRSME) at DePaul University (Aug 12-14) sponsored by the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø EMSIG preceding the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Educators’ Summer Conference in Chicago. Saras Sarasvathy made the keynote speech at GRSME on Aug 12 and received her award from Gerry Hills during the award ceremony hosted by ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø EMSIG on Aug 13. Susan Wei (Texas A&M International U.), Abdul Ali (Babson C.), and Maija Renko (UI Chicago) served on the 2015 Hills award committee.

ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍøt the Gerald E. Hills Best Paper Award

Gerald (Gerry) E. Hills is widely recognized for his research and expertise in entrepreneurial marketing, especially for his work on opportunity recognition. In addition, Gerry initiated the annual research symposium on Marketing and Entrepreneurship () since the eighties. Gerry was one of the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø leaders who initiated the Special Interest Group concept. The Entrepreneurial Marketing SIG is pleased to continue to present a best paper award in recognition of Gerry’s lifetime contributions to the field.

Award Criteria:

The Gerald E. Hills Award Best Paper on Entrepreneurial Marketing award is presented annually (usually in August) to the author(s) of the "best paper" who have made a significant impact on the marketing/entrepreneurship interface research. The domain of nominated articles would be papers published in the previous 10 years in any refereed publication.
