The 2015 “Marketing and Society Emerging Scholar Award” to:
Justine M. Rapp!

— Justine is Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of San Diego. Her research interests include over-consumption behavior, goal setting, self-regulation, and transformative consumer research, and is focused in two primary categories: underrepresented consumer groups and ethical considerations. To date Justine has published 8 journal articles and 2 book chapters, with her work appearing in such venues as the Journal of Consumer
Research, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Journal of Advertising, and the Journal of Business Ethics. On campus I she serves as part of the Changemaker Hub for commitments to propagating social change, and in her course on Digital Marketing & Social Media she directs student efforts to focus on helping 8 small businesses/nonprofit
clients each semester to develop their brands and online presence through such digital marketing outcomes as Google advertising campaigns or fully functioning websites.
This award is a well-deserved recognition of the quality and impact of Justine’s efforts to date, and an expression of support for her continuing contributions to our field of knowledge. Congratulations to Justine! Onward for a better future for society!
— The Award will be presented to Justine during the MASSIG reception at the 2015 Summer Educator’s Conference, Chicago, IL, in August. The judging panel for this Emerging Scholar Award was chaired by Ronald Paul Hill, and included Jeremy Kees (MASSIG incoming Chair), as well as Kelly Martin, Beth Vallen, and Maura Scott (our previous award winners).
