Revisit: ECRM 2015

Introduction

Narrative track at the 14th European Conference on Research Methodology for Business and Management Studies, Valletta, Malta, 11-12 Jun 2015; Deadline 12 Dec

Call for papers: Sharing research stories of elicitation and analysis in narrative inquiry.

Special track at the 14th ECRM – European Conference on Research Methodology for Business and Management Studies at University of Malta, Valletta, Malta, 11-12 June 2015.

Narrative inquiry has as its core a focus on the storied nature of human experience – we come to understand and give meaning to our lives through story.

This track invites submissions from researchers in business with an interest in storytelling and narrative analysis to share experiences and perspectives of the issues, challenges and rewards of working from this standpoint. It is anticipated that papers submitted in this track will reflect experiences of researchers working with different types of narratives and stories in diverse ways.

The aim in turning the focus back onto researchers and their research stories is to foreground methodological issues and challenges in elicitation and analysis, rather than the specific contextual or theoretical aspects of research projects using a narrative approach.

Topics may include, but are not restricted to:

  • Techniques for eliciting rich narrative data
  • Challenges presented in interpreting and analysing participant stories
  • Using theory to help shape interpretations and arguments
  • Judgements that need to make during the process of narrative analysis and the basis on which these are made.
  • Ethical issues confronted in the elicitation, analysis and reporting of stories
  • Other related issues

Abstract deadline extended to 12th December 2014
Full papers due 8th January 2015
