Hanze University of Applied Sciences is happy to announce USE2015 to be held in Groningen (The Netherlands) from 21- 23 Oct 2015.

The USE conference will be held for the third time (previously in 2013 (Australia); 2009 (Denmark)) and provides a forum to enhance our understanding of small enterprises as well as has a unique focus on the well-being of both people and business. One of the characteristics of a small business is its interconnectedness with its environment or network: customers, suppliers, partners, employees, and the communities in which it resides. The networked nature of small businesses gives rise to the subtheme of USE2015: “A Healthy Working Life in A Healthy Business”.

The organizers welcome papers on substantial, original and unpublished research on any issue relevant to the conference. Especially welcome are abstracts on topics directly related to the three main conference themes (which can be subdivided in a number of subthemes).

Healthy and safe working environments at SMEs

Topics might include – but are not limited to: Occupational Health and Safety, Workplace Innovation, Healthy Ageing and Work, Work Life Balance

Health organizations as small businesses

Topics might include – but are not limited to: Organizing for Change: Social Innovation, Market Orientation, Technology Innovation

SMEs in a networked society

Topics might include – but are not limited to: Corporate and Network Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility, Globalizing SMEs

The scientific committee consists of Prof. Dr. Hugo Velthuijsen (Hanze UAS Groningen), Prof. Dr. Harm van Lieshout (Hanze UAS, Groningen), Dr. Florian Pallas (Hanze UAS, Groningen), Prof. Dr. Stephen Legg (Massey University, New Zealand), Dr. Peter Hasle (PHA) (Aalborg University Copenhagen, Denmark) and Prof. Dr. Frank Jan de Graaf (Amsterdam UAS, Netherlands).

Similar to the previous two conferences (USE2009 and USE2013), we are also planning to produce journal special issues in the areas of “Small and Medium Enterprises”, “Occupational Health and Safety” and “Healthcare Management”.

We hope to welcome you to the beautiful city of Groningen on October 21- 23 2015. The conference offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into and discuss the latest research on small enterprises, the business aspects as well as the quality of the working life and working environment.
