SABE 2014
Introduction
Society for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics, Lake Tahoe, 21-24 Jul 2014; Deadline 31 Mar
Marketing Researchers,
I would like to alert you to SABE Lake Tahoe 2014, the annual conference of the Society for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics.
SABE proactively seeks to foster the development of social science, economics in particular, by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and cross-fertilization. At this SABE conference, we are proactively seeking marketing researchers. We already have one general session being developed on “behavioral pricing” by a marketing professor. There are many other possible interesting sessions with a marketing emphasis. I encourage you to email me at pingle@unr.edu with any ideas you may have for a session. Or, simply submit a proposal to the conference following the directions you can find in the call for papers
Here are a couple of highlights of the conference which you can consider yourself and share with others:
- A good line up of plenary speakers: Vernon Smith, Ulrike Malmendier, and Paul Zak
- A number of good pre-planned general sessions:
- Behavioral Finance
- Behavioral Public Finance
- Neuro-economics
- Behavioral Pricing
- Evolution and Stability of Group Norms
- Human Capital and Human Development
- Poverty and Inequality
- Consumer Financial Behavior
- Behavioral Insights into Charitable Giving
- Empathy and the Economic Process
I also want to alert you to the novel preconference workshop. The workshop is designed for PhD students and junior faculty. The workshop contains a “getting published” segment and an exposure to neuroeconomics. The workshop itself is free, including one overnight stay, (though a participant must also attend and pay for the conference at a reduced rate). You will find information on this workshop at
There is no better time to visit Lake Tahoe, the number one outdoor tourist destination in the world. I hope you can come and enjoy the lake and the intellectual stimulation. I hope you will also help me spread the word.
Sincerely,
Mark Pingle
