Dalakas Wins AxcessCapon
Introduction
Vassilis Dalakas has won the AxcessCapon Teaching Innovation Competition at the 2013 Marketing Management Association Fall Educators' Conference
The Marketing Management Association (MMA) is pleased to announce the winner of the 2013 AxcessCapon Teaching Innovation Competition: Dr. Vassilis Dalakas, Associate Professor of Marketing at California State University San Marcos. His innovation, “Learning by (Really) Doing,” takes client-based student consulting projects to the next level by allowing students to implement their recommendations and factoring the results into their project grade. The award was presented at MMA’s Fall Educators’ Conference on September 19 in New Orleans.
The other two finalists were Can Uslay of Rutgers University, originator of “Peer Evaluation as Basis for Class Participation Grades: The PEP Approach,” and Adam J. Mills of Simon Fraser University, developer of “Operation Valuation: Experiential Learning ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍøt Pricing and Value Creation.” Educators interested in learning more about all three innovations will find teaching notes prepared by the finalists at: conferences/fall-conference.html. The Call for Submissions for the 2014 competition will be available before the end of November. Please visit MMA’s website, , and click the “Fall Conference” menu item. Submissions are due by May 23, 2014, and the final round will take place at MMA’s 2014 Fall Educators’ Conference, September 17–19 in San Antonio.
