I need your help. I’ve recently lost my daughter to an incident of binge drinking. She was attending the University of Missouri, where she was a sophomore. Emily drank to excess on December 6th of last year and then tried to drive home. She became disoriented on the freeway and was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of a major interstate. She hit a commercial truck head-on in the early morning of December 7th 2012 and was killed instantly. My daughter was 19.

I am trying to create an online/direct marketing service to help prevent this type of tragedy for other college age drinkers. I think that there is potential in utilizing social media to help mitigate the risks inherent in the college drinking scene. To this end, I am funding a competition for the best ideas on how we can utilize social media for college-aged drinkers to support, protect, and otherwise intervene on behalf of their fellow students who are at risk of hurting themselves or others.
