JMHE is pleased to announce a special issue focusing on Branding in Higher Education. While there are numerous publications on the subjects of Branding, and Higher Education, there is very limited research of Branding in relation to Higher Education, and a need exists for this special issue to investigate the current and future implications of this topic. In particular, aside from the important issues involving Higher Education in general, we are interested in cutting-edge research involving On-Line delivery, Cost/Value, eBranding and Globalization. Papers can include empirical and conceptual research topics, and given the disruptive situation Higher Education is facing we are interested in practitioner input as well as stretching the boundaries of thought, and welcome papers which are outside-the-box.

Topics that might be suitable for papers appearing in the special issue include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Brand innovation in relation to Higher Education Institutions
  • Branding services in Higher Education
  • Student and other stakeholder perceptions
  • The Value of the Institution brand, as well as the value of the Degree granted
  • The shifting paradigm involved with On-line delivery; and eBranding
  • The impact of rankings
  • The globalisation of branding in Higher Education, and the global student
  • Legal issues related to globalisation of branding in Higher Education
  • Branding education in emerging markets, including Branding by Institutions within the Base of the Pyramid
  • Place branding related to Higher Education Institutions
  • Non-Profit Branding
  • Logo analysis

Important Dates

  • Submissions deadline: September 30, 2013
  • Reviews and revisions completed by 28th February, 2014
  • Revised manuscripts due: January 30, 2014
  • Publication: July 2014.

All manuscripts submitted should follow the guidelines of the Journal of Marketing for Higher Education.
