The ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Services Marketing SIG calls for nominations for its Best Service Article Award and the Christopher Lovelock Career Contribution Award; The deadline for both is 31 Mar 2013

Call for Proposals SERVSIG Awards (Best Paper and Christopher Lovelock Career Contribution Award)

Dear Service Community,

I am delighted to announce a call for proposals for the following two SERVSIG awards:

  • "SERVSIG’s Best Service Article Award"
  • "Christopher Lovelock Career Contribution Award"

Based on the proposals, from the services community and a defined procedure, the award committees will chose articles / candidates during the following weeks. If you believe that you would like to propose a paper or somebody for the lifetime achievement award, please email Mark Rosenbaum (Chair, SERVSIG; mrosenbaum@niu.edu) or the specific committee chair by March 31, 2013.

Articles submitted for the Best Service Article Award must have been published in a referred journal during 2012. Articles may be from any English language journal. Topics of the articles covered may include (but are not limited to) services marketing, service quality, and services management. To be considered a services article, an article must meet two of three tests:

  • Mention service in the title of the article
  • Mention service in the body of the article
  • Cite service research in the article

Suggested journals include (but are limited to): JSR, JOSM, JSM, JM, JAMS, JR, JCR, JMR

A candidate for a SERVSIG Award does not have to be a member of SERVIG or the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø to be eligible or to win. Also, candidates for the awards do not have to be academics. SERVSIG recognizes the vital link between academia and business practice. A list of previous best article authors is available at

To be eligible for the Christopher Lovelock Career Contributions Award, candidates must meet the following criteria: 1) career contributions should be of long duration, preferably 15 to 20 years; 2) contributions to the services discipline should be significant; 3) contributions to the services discipline should be frequent, and 4) contributions to the services discipline should include recent contributions.
