ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø 2012 Academic Council Call for Nominations

The Academic Council of the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø is soliciting nominations for individuals who have a passion and creative ideas for working with the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø on an agenda for moving the organization forward in the value provided to ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø academic members.

Role of the Academic Council of ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø

The ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Academic Council is comprised of 12 members who work to enhance the value that ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø provides to its academic members. The Academic Council has oversight of and final responsibility for important aspects of the life of the academic discipline, including national and special interest conferences, the primary placement job market conducted each August, the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø/Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium, Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and on-line and interactive resources, such as ELMAR and the Academic Resource Center (ARC) on the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø website. The objective with regard to Academic Council membership is to have the Council reflect the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø academic membership at large. Each Council member serves a three-year term, beginning on July 1, 2012. The Academic Council will review applications to the Council in relation to the following factors/criteria:

  • Current ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø membership
  • Strong statement of interest
  • Demonstrated leadership in ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø or other marketing organizations, at a national level (e.g., conference chair, track chair, SIG leader, Special Session Organizer)
  • Alignment with needs of the Academic Council in terms of diversity:
    • Geographic region of the US and abroad
    • Research interest within marketing
    • Teaching/Research mission of academic institution

Nomination Process

A national call for nominations will run from November 2011 through February 1, 2012. All applications must be received by February 1, 2012 to be considered for a position on the Academic Council.

Applicants must be current ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø members, provide a current vita, and give a statement of interest that explains why they want to be a member of the Academic Council, in addition to any previous leadership roles or involvement they have had with the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø or another marketing organization on a national level.

The 12 members of the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Academic Council will evaluate the nominees based on the criteria.
