Background
The Schmalenbach Business Review – sbr – is the international edition of the oldest and most prestigious German journal of business, named "Schmalenbachs Zeitschrift für betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung" (zfbf). sbr’s goal is to publish original and innovative research. The journal covers topics especially in accounting, finance, marketing and organization, but is open for further subjects. Thus, sbr attempts to bring together the most important management areas. This approach of not specializing in one specific subject, such as accounting or finance, stands in the tradition of German business research journals.
Against this background, we are pleased to announce and call for contributions for sbr’s Special Issue on Neuroeconomics. Neuroeconomics research investigates the interaction between neuroscience, economics, management and psychology. This new and fascinating approach seems to be promising because on the one side, neuronal activity underlies economic principles, and on the other side, our decision-making behavior is determined by these neuronal processes.
Special Issue Topics
Manuscripts should combine concepts from neuroscience and/or psychology with problems of economics and management. The topics given below are illustrative only and by no means preferred or exhaustive:
- Application of concepts and methods from neuroscience and/or psychology in solving economics and management problems (e.g., consumer decision-making, behavioural finance, marketing, advertising research, innovation management, organization science, management, business informatics and decision science).
- Analysis of interpersonal behavior (e.g., relationships between customer-supplier, supervisor-subordinate, and/or investor-firm) with the means of neuroscience and/or psychology.
- Discussion of ethical and legal issues at the interface of psychology, neuroscience, and business and economics research.
- Evaluation of the state of the field of research in Neuroeconomics with specific relevance for management field and issues.
- Application of state-of-the-art techniques for solving management-problems (e.g., fMRI, DTI, EEG/ERP, SCR).
Empirical as well as conceptual manuscripts are welcome. We expect this special issue to lead to significant cross-fertilization across fields and, therefore, to particularly high impact for the papers. Manuscripts submitted for the Special Issue must neither be published elsewhere, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere at the time of submission.
