Next year the 28th IMP Conference will be held in Rome. The Conference will be arranged by the Università Cattolica () and by the Department of Economic and Business Management Science. The Università Cattolica is characterized by being a single university with a campus extending to six Italian cities.

The IMP Group was formed in 1976 by researchers from five European countries. The first work of the group was a comparative study of industrial marketing and purchasing across Europe. Since then large-scale studies of complex relationships between buying and selling organizations across business networks have been developed. As outlined in the latest book of the IMP Group, the rainforest metaphor represents very well the complexity of business markets and the processes that take place within business interaction and interdependent relationships. The rainforest metaphor describes a universal relatedness which can be traced across the business landscape formed through interaction in which resources, activities and actors are combined, transformed and continuously renewed.
