Introduction:

The millennial generation poses significant pedagogic challenges in terms of how it acquires and processes knowledge. These challenges, coupled with changing financial models in the higher education sector, and the massification and globalisation of education, have changed the nature of teaching and learning in business education.

Overall objective and topics:

This book will showcase the latest pedagogic innovations and techniques that actively and effectively engage the millennial generation in learning within the business domain. In the context of the contemporary macro issues facing higher education, it will present the latest teaching practices and tools used in higher education business teaching, clearly illustrating the practical ways in which business teachers can confront current pedagogic challenges. Best practice teaching from multiple jurisdictions across a broad spectrum of business schools will be included. Each contributor will share their innovative teaching tools and techniques in a manner that emphasises how these tools can be adapted to other contexts, in order to present readers with a valuable teaching resource.

Recommended topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Effectively teaching increasingly large student groups
  • Creating dynamic learning environments
  • Enhancing critical thinking skill in students
  • Coping with and leveraging diversity in the classroom
  • Educating students to become ethical citizens
  • Utilizing social media to enhance business school teaching
  • Encouraging enquiry based learning
  • Fostering independent learning
  • Innovative techniques for encouraging interaction in the classroom
  • Effective student assessment
  • Integrating ethical and moral considerations into curricula
  • Embracing responsible management education
  • Other innovative teaching, learning or assessment tools
