Student Travel Scholarships for Art & Science of Service Conference
In an effort to continue to develop Service Science as a new academic discipline, the conference will sponsor a limited number of student travel scholarships of US$300.00 each to attend the Art & Science of Service Conference, which will be held at the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose on June 8-10, 2011. There will be a Doctoral Student Consortium held on June 8, which is free for all doctoral students. In addition, students will be charged a reduced registration fee to attend the conference itself on June 9 and 10.
In order to be eligible for this scholarship the following conditions must be met:
- The student must currently be full time working towards either a master’s degree or doctorate.
- The extended abstract that is submitted must be written by the student requesting the scholarship. If there is more than one author, then the student must be the primary author indicating that he/she is responsible for the majority of the submission.
- The topic of the paper must have a service science orientation. That is, it must be focused on some aspect of service management and reflect a transdisciplinary perspective.
- The student must present the paper/abstract at the Connference.
The extended abstract must be submitted through the regular submission process which is accessed through the conference website at
The deadline for all abstracts, including those being submitted for a scholarship has been extended to April 1, 2011
In addition to submitting the extended abstract through the conference website, each student must submit the following (a) a letter from his/her faculty advisor that states that the author is a full time student, and that the above eligibility requirements have been met (the faculty letter should also include the title of the paper, the institution where the student is studying, and the student’s expected graduation date, (b), the student’s current CV, and (c) a copy of the extended abstract.
