2011 William F. O’Dell Award

Judith A. Chevalier and Dina Mayzlin have been selected as the recipients of the 2011 William F. O’Dell Award for their article “The Effect of Word of Mouth on Sales: Online Book Reviews,” which appeared in the August 2006 (Volume 43, Number 3) issue.

The award honors the Journal of Marketing Research article published in 2006 that has made the most significant, long-term contribution to marketing theory, methodology, and/or practice. The committee overseeing the voting process comprised Sunil Gupta (chair), James Bettman, and Jean-Pierre Dubé.

  • Judith A. Chevalier is William S. Beinecke Professor of Finance and Economics at Yale University School of Management.
  • Dina Mayzlin is Associate Professor of Marketing at Yale University School of Management.

The award is presented annually at the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø’s Winter Marketing Educators Conference held this year on February 18-20, 2011, at the Hilton Austin in Austin, TX.
