SPECIAL SESSION: STRATEGIES AND SOLUTIONS FOR THE TUMULTUOUS JOB MARKET

Also at the 2010 Winter ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø, DocSIG will be hosting a special session on the job market. The purpose of this session is to provide doctoral candidates with useful information to facilitate their job search, to better enable them to enter job market and also, more generally, to help students feel more comfortable with, rather than intimidated by, the process. The session will address a wide variety of issues ranging from tips on how to develop a research program (e.g., is it more important for doctoral students to conduct research independently or with established scholars?) to more focused strategies relating to the job market (e.g., how is it best to prepare for the interview process?). The aim is to provide both general strategies that facilitate the doctoral candidate’s progress through the PhD program as well as more specific strategies for those who are closer to going on the job market. The panelists include: Aric Rindfleisch (University of Wisconsin-Madison), William Wilkie (University of Notre Dame), Kelly Martin (Colorado State University) and Rajani Pillai (North Dakota State University). This session is scheduled for Sunday, February 21st from 3:30 to 5:00pm and everyone is welcome.

We look forward to seeing you at these events!
