Call for Proposals to Host 2011 ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium

The annual ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium is a premier event in our discipline. If your school would like to host and sponsor this event in 2011, please prepare and submit a proposal for receipt no later than December 15, 2009.

The Consortium typically extends for 3 ½ days, arriving at the host university on Wednesday and departing on Sunday. Proposals for the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium should include the following items:

  1. Cover Page that includes Chair (co-chairs) of Consortium and their contact information
  2. Objectives of Consortium
  3. Positioning/Theme of the Consortium
  4. Proposed Special Features of the Program
  5. Social Events and Experiences
  6. Overview of the proposed program
  7. Academic Environment – information about University/School/Department
  8. Financial Support
  9. Tentative Budget (Appendix)
  10. Biographical Sketches of departmental faculty

The ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium, typically held early summer, introduces Ph.D. students to state-of-the-art perspectives and emerging themes in our profession. Thought leaders in research and practice are invited to provide a stimulating experience for doctoral candidates as they prepare to launch their careers. Life-long professional relationships often develop through the consortium experience. The ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø and the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø Foundation provide a total of $55,000 in support of this program. The consortium host institution often secures additional sponsorship, commitment from its own university, and uses a modest fee structure that permits it to meet projected costs for lodging, meals and any fees associated with meeting space. Other activities such as receptions and off-site events are at the discretion of the host institution.

The President-elect of the Academic Council will notify the winner and non-winners via phone call (winner) and email (non-winner) in January.

Please consider contributing to our discipline by sponsoring and hosting the ÂÜÀòÉç¹ÙÍø-Sheth Doctoral Consortium. If you need more information, or would like to submit a proposal by the December 15, 2009 deadline, please contact me.
