SLACTIONS 2009
Introduction
Research Conference in the Second Life? World, Various localities and In World, 24-25 Sep 2009
The SLActions conference is being held in the Second Life virtual world but also at physical Local Chapters on September 24-25 (see ). Researchers in eleven universities from nine countries, including Belgium, Brazil, Finland, Hong Kong, Israel, Portugal, Spain, UK and the USA, are participating simultaneously to present a program of 32 papers representing a broad spectrum of research in virtual worlds, including Education, e-Business, Social Sciences, Creativity and Design. The presentation program is now full but people who are not presenting are most welcome to register and attend.
As an emerging field, this is a relatively small conference that allows the opportunity to meet other researchers situated at geographically distant places around the world but without too much travel. There are two ways to attend, either completely within SL (no travel) or through one of the physical Local Chapter sites at the participating universities. At Manchester Business School in the UK, we are hosting a Local Chapter but others are available in the other participating universities, see the SLActions website.
